Songphonsak belongs to Pgakenyaw Indigenous Peoples of Thailand. As an Indigenous Peoples’ rights advocate, he worked for the education development of Indigenous Peoples in Mae Wang and Mae Nam Khan watershed areas from 1991-2004. He supported capacity development on natural resource management including community forestry, forest ordination, aquatic resources, forest classification and mapping as an officer in IMPECT. Since 2009, Mr. Songphunsak works with Pgakenyaw Association for Sustainable Development-PASD in the implementation of the Special Culture Zone (SPZ) of Pgakenyaw Indigenous Peoples. He actively contributes to the mobilization and facilitation of Pgakenyaw Indigenous communities for a sustainable and cultural-oriented territory governance.
