@ Paraigu Kawataan, Calamian Tagbanwa Tribe

Florida Festin is a founding member, and outgoing Vice-President of Paraigu Kawataan (PK), a youth federation from 38 indigenous Tagbanwa communities in the Calamian group of islands, Palawan province, Philippines. Since 2016, she actively engaged the youth to assist their respective communities towards improving tenurial security of their ancestral lands and waters, cultural regeneration, and environmental protection. Currently, she works with Samdhana Institute and coordinates various community development activities of the Tagbanwa women federation from 38 indigenous Tagbanwa communities. Flo draws inspiration from her grandmother, who was among those who fought in the Balik Calawit Movement – a struggle of the Tagbanwas of Calawit Island to reclaim their ancestral lands from being declared as a safari eco-tourism park.
